MIND-FIELD OF SUCCESS OR DEFEAT

The Mind-Field of Success or Defeat explores why the mind is the greatest battlefield on earth. It looks at individuals who were successful as they chose to live by the Spirit and the Word of God. This is in contrast to those individuals who suffered defeat as they chose to disobey God's Word and allowed their minds to dictate their actions according to their abilities, perception. circumstances, and influences from the works of darkness. This book will challenge, encourage readers to walk in obedience to God's Word and the direction of the Holy Spirit. Only then can they fulfill their purpose and destiny on earth according to God's design, and not according to the dictates of their minds. It will provide valuable insights on how to achieve the victory that Jesus Christ obtained on the cross of Calvary.

Brief excerpts: The mind is the greatest battlefield on the earth as validated by the examples given in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. As it is the mind that determines the path that we should travel in life, to either fulfill the destiny that God has for our lives, or fulfill the destiny that we have determined for ourselves, or to fulfill the destiny that Satan has planned for us.

There are many choices that we can make in life, but they do not all lead to the same end or final destination. Thus there are only two choices that really matter, to obey God and inherit eternal life or disobey Him unto eternal death. As success in life, if not measured by God's standards, in not success at all. We may achieve fame, fortune, and everything that we desire, but if it does not lead to eternal life, then that success is not really success, but defeat. This is what the mind ultimately tries to determine, to live with God or without Him, to obey or disobey Him, to be used by God or to be vessels used by Satan, to know good from evil.

The greatest battle a Christian or any of God's creation will ever face will be the battle for their minds. It will not be the physical battles that will cause any man or woman to fall or lose hope, but it will be the battle that is constantly going on in their minds. Although the physical battles will indirectly affect the mind, it will ultimately be the mind that will determine if a person will give up or fight the trials of life.

The mind is not the source of life, yet controls every aspect of it. Adam and Eve lost the battle for their minds through rebellion and deception respectively, and this became the foundation for the works of Satan upon the earth. This is why it is so vital for Satan to control the mind of man. If he can control the mind of mankind through the indoctrination of cults, leaders of nations, and those living according to their standards and lifestyles, he can keep us from fulfilling the plan and purposes that God has for our lives. Thus the mind has become the greatest battlefield for every person. Every man and woman is capable of far much more than at present, but most of us allow the circumstances, past and present, to dictate our potential in God and upon the earth.

God created every man and woman to do His will on earth. He imparts to us all that we need to reach our potential, but we can allow the circumstances and what we believe to be our natural abilities, to limit our potential. Thus many of us set limitations on what we believe that we are capable of doing, and fail to accomplish all our dreams and desires, and to fulfill our destiny in God. We listen to the voice of reason and not to the Spirit of God! We listen to the voice of Satan and the fear that he plants in our minds, to hinder the work of God upon the earth.

Many of us ask this same question as Moses, "Who am I?" We tend to see ourselves through the eyes of our past failures and what others have said about us. We assume an identity that we believe that we must fulfill, at least according to our mind, according to what we see, hear, feel, touch and smell, not according to what the Spirit of God imparts to us. Remember, man was not alive even though he was a complete physical being, until the Spirit of God was imparted to him! I will now leave you to answer the question, "Who are you?"

It is God that gave us the ability to see, hear, touch, feel and smell, but this is subjected to the experiences of the past, present, and the circumstances around us. If we allow the mind to formulate the physical experiences and respond to them according to what we perceive in the natural, we are bound to experience defeat. God also gave us the ability to reason, but if this reason is based solely on our experiences and beliefs, then we are sure to stumble and fall. But if we utilize the fullness that God had planted within us and allow the Spirit of God to lead and direct our responses, then we would experience success far more often and fall less in the traps that Satan has determined for us.

David did not look at the size of the enemy, but at the size of God, his focus was not on the victories the Philistine had won, but on the victories that God had given him against the lion and the bear. He did not waver in his confession of the Lord's ability to deliver, because he had experienced it firsthand. He was not seeking his own glory, but was declaring the power and might of God to the Philistine and all those around him. The Philistine declared his own fate, when he told David that he would feed his flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. David reiterated this same phrase to Goliath, but went a step further and declared the outcome of the entire Philistine's army.

Many of us face giants in our lives that appear insurmountable, we look at the obstacles and circumstances around us and we feel defeated in our minds, we feel it is impossible to overcome these giants. But if we follow the example of David, then victory will be ours and not defeat. Goliath looked at David and not at the spirit in him; he looked at the size of David and declared his victory.  David looked at the size of God and not at the size of Goliath, and declared his victory.

Jesus did not entertain a conversation with the devil. He did not respond to him with His mind as Adam and Eve did, but He responded with the Word and the Spirit. He did not have to test or prove the word, as He was the Word in the flesh. Despite the fact that Jesus was God in the flesh, He had all the same physical needs as us, as He was born of the flesh. He demonstrated very clearly how to overcome the temptations and desires that the devil sends our way. After Jesus rebuked the devil with the Word, he departed from Him and angels came and ministered unto Him.

Jesus knew who He was and the purpose of His life, He set the example for us to follow. As a result of His decision and obedience to the Spirit of God, all mankind can have eternal life and defeat the works of darkness by the Word and the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Satan never attempted to attack or temp Jesus again, but worked through the religious leaders instead!

We determine the final outcome of our life on this earth and for eternity, depending on the choices that we make according to the dictates of our minds. We can choose eternal life by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, or we can choose eternal death by rejecting Him. This is in contrast to Satan, who has no such choice! His final outcome is determined and set by God for his rebellion and works upon the earth since the creation of time, as stated in Revelation 20:10," And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever." The kingdom of darkness will be completely destroyed.

Dreams and desires are won or lost in the battlefield of the mind; "So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law, but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man am I! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" Romans 7:21-25.

Our success or achievement in life is very limited if we allow our minds to dictate the path we should follow, but if we allow ourselves to be influenced by the Spirit of God and that which He has imparted to us; we will achieve our potential in life and fulfill our destiny on earth.
